Besra: Live at Rødhouse Studio

Post metal band, Besra, are currently working on their ambitious and edgy second album, which will be the follow up to the very strong Anhedonia from 2018. Prior to that, they revealed a three-song release of their live performance at Rødhouse Studio in Turku, Finland, paired to a live film.

Live At Rødhouse Studio finds Besra at a fully adventurous and genre-merging mode. The session was recorded and mixed by vocalist Hannes Hietarinta, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg from Cult Of Luna. The release includes two new original songs, Sirens and Closure, as well as unpredicted saxophone solos by Oskari Ruohonen (Oskr, Yournalist), while the band also delivers a refreshed version of Dwell In Gloom, originally on Anhedonia.

Hannes Hietarinta, vocalist of BESRA comments: “As someone who works for the event industry, I’ve witnessed the anxiety of the Corona years up close. During a time when live performances were out of the question, we had to think of other ways to keep the fire burning and improve ourselves as artists. Focusing on the studio environment and how we sounded there felt like a logical shelter. As a result, we managed to create ourselves a new sound, over 60 minutes of recorded music – and this live piece recorded in the studio.”

With more material from Besra expected soon, the Finnish band prove that they have managed to keep extracting a great deal of agony and emotion into their art form, and their approach shows results.
