KAARST is the new project of Sam Haven, an artist and mixed-media storyteller best known for his distressing musical release Sanctuary under his own name, and the literature made out of journal excerpts, inner monologue, imagery, poetry, and prose, as presented in his 2021 book, The Art Of Leaving. Haven has also done exhibitions of oil paintings, converting the dark and really dreamlike topics of his music and poetry into visuals.
This new entity which has derived from Haven's relatable dejection, expressed with ambient sounds viewed by way of a dark and gothic perspective, KAARST will provide the framework for both musical and visual collaborations in a live setting.
The Promise is the project's compelling debut single and video; a dark, pulsing number with a haunting electronic melodic line which creates a darkwave and synthpop basis that blends excellently with Haven's vocal performance, culminating in a foreboding and all-around beautiful track. The Promise, supported by a wonderful single-scene music video shot and produced by Sam Haven himself, affirms KAARST's notable commencement.
KAARST's debut EP will be released by CRUCIBLE in late 2022.
