Constant Smiles: Only Love

Citing influence from the lo-fi indie rock of bands like Yo La Tengo and Guided By Voices, Brooklyn's Constant Smiles prepare the release of their forthcoming album, Control, scheduled to come out through Living Waters Records on June 19th, 2020.

First single, Only Love, is a buoyant and ethereal dreampop cut, shining by way of its rich instrumentation, and the soft and warm delivery which echoes with mellifluous melancholy and dreaminess.

Writer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Ben Jones, is the main creative force behind the Constant Smiles moniker, bringing the band to full realization alongside his partner, Mike Mackey, and a roster of like-minded musicians including Spike Currier, Nina Violet, Blaze Bateh and Bridget Collins.

Writing, collaborating on and recording Control has been a process of personal transformation as an artist and a person,” states Jones. “During the past year I’ve reexamined everything in my life, and in the process learned to create music and an existence that is more sustainable, letting go of the things I can’t control. This ultimately leads to a deeper pool of creativity.”

Control is the follow up to last year's John Waters. From its first example the album suggests Constant Smiles' exploration of lo-fi, dreampop, shoegaze and psychedelic sounds evolved to a deeper level, essentially esoteric and intimate.
