Editors: Hallelujah (So Low) // The Blanck Mass Recording

The Blanck Mass Sessions is a collaborative release between Editors and Blanck Mass, out on Record Store Day 2019 which very quickly sold out. The album is composed of the original productions of Benjamin John Power, aka Blanck Mass, based on Editors' latest, acclaimed album, Violence, from 2018, and it will be out on general release on May 3rd, 2019 via Play It Again Sam.

"When we initially approached Ben to work with us on Violence we gave him free reign to do whatever he wanted," Editors frontman, Tom Smith explains. "It seemed stupid to try and instill any boundaries or direction to him as he has such a singular, authored sound to everything he puts his hand to... so we left him to it. The results of that process being this release. A very visceral version of our album Violence."

Hallelujah (So Low) follows lead single, Barricades, the LP's only entirely original piece, and appears as a characteristic example of the dissimilar approach Blanck Mass took relying on the English band's well developed indie rock sound. Atmospheric synths and a prevailing vanguard experimental direction replace the acoustic guitars and the original song's accessible shape, and give the song a completely new form, converting it into something completely autonomous.
