Alone in the Dark is a brilliant slasher flick that came out in 1982, directed by Jack Sholder and with a cast that featured Jack Palance, Donald Pleasence and Martin Landau. The second single by NYC industrialists, Uniform, off their upcoming album, The Long Walk, pays tribute to that film while serving as a more personal statement for songwriter and vocalist, Michael Berdan.
"In the film, Jack Palance, Martin Landau and Donald Pleasance star as a gaggle of mental patients who escape an asylum during a power outage and proceed to hunt down their psychiatrist," Berdan explains. "In our song, I'm referencing my personal feelings of isolation that come in the middle of the night, when I'm left with only the sensation of college level existential terror and prayers to a God who may or may not be listening, if even there at all."
The Long Walk releases August 17th, 2018 on Sacred Bones. The band is currently in the middle of a heavy touring schedule with Deafheaven, to be followed by a date with Thou and then a series of collaborative shows with The Body.
