Dylan Carlson: Scorpions in their Mouths

Whether it is as part of experimental heavy rockers, Earth, or with his more folk-oriented solo work as drcarlsonalbion, Dylan Carlson never stops exploring.

Returning from his collaboration with The Bug from 2016, Carlson will be releasing his new album, the first under his real name, titled Conquistador, via Sargent House on April 27th.

"I guess what ties this all together—all my musical projects and my life in general—is the idea of the quest, that search for new horizons and something unnamable and possibly unreachable," Carlson states about the upcoming album.

Conquistador was recorded with super producer and Converge guitarist, Kurt Ballou, and features the contributions of Emma Ruth Rundle (baritone and slide guitar) and Dylan's wife, Holly Carlson (percussion, photography, cover art model).

Scorpions In Their Mouths is the first piece we get to listen, a six-minute psychedelic/desert rocking epic which sets the mood about what will follow in the rest of the album's total of five tracks.
