Lords of Chaos Premiering At The 2018 Sundance Film Festival



The events that took place in Norway between 1990 and 1993 and which involve the rise of the second wave of Norwegian black metal, a series of church burnings and the deaths of some very important musicians of the BM scene make one of the most extreme, intriguing and captivating stories in contemporary music. It is all perfectly laid out in a fascinating read that is Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground, written by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind and first published in 1998.

It has been going around for a while that the book was being made into a film. After an abandoned attempt by Japanese filmmaker, Sion Sono, in the late 2000s, at long last Lords of Chaos comes into being by Jonas Åkerlund, co-founder of legendary black metal pioneers, Bathory, and director of countless music videos, concert films and feature films like Spun and Small Apartments. It has been announced that Rory Culkin will be starring in the upcoming film alongside Emory Cohen, Jack Kilmer and Sky Ferreira.

The exciting news continue with the addition of Sigur Rós confirmed to be providing music for a the film.

Lords of Chaos will be premiering at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival which takes place from January 18th to January 28th, 2018.
