Weyes Blood: A Certain Kind b/w Everybody's Talkin'

Returning from last October's excellent Front Row Seat To Earth, Weyes Blood has just released a 7-inch comprised of two covers. Side-A includes A Certain Kind, a 1968 song by Soft Machine which was often mistaken for an original when Weyes Blood played the song in her live set. Everybody's Talkin' on side-B is the classic, originally penned and first recorded by Fred Neil in 1966, until Harry Nilsson made it immortal with his version three years later.

Natalie Mering puts her own unique spin to those couple of pieces, exhibiting the tastefulness in her influences, her great love for those graceful classics and that certain kind of skill and creativity it is required when attempting to cover such well-known and celebrated songs, the ability to come up with something respectful, familiar and new.
