Myrkur: Måneblôt

We've been advocates of Myrkur's contemporary black metal ingenuity since day one and the aptitude we saw in her first self titled EP back in 2014. A handful of releases later, which include a fantastic debut album and an oddly fascinating live record, the Danish multi-instrumentalist is about to release her sophomore album titled Mareridt on September 15th via Relapse.

The upcoming album was recorded between Copenhagen and Seattle with producer Randall Dunn (Marissa Nadler, Earth, Sunn O))), Boris, Wolves In The Throne Room). Måneblôt, the first single off it, features every element that has made Myrkur so dear to us this far: extreme heaviness, majestic choral vocals and dark folk enchantment, justifying the artist's presence as still one of the strongest new voices in extreme metal.

The artist's portrait below is by Daria Endresen, and the painting which follows is created by Odd Nedrum and will be the album art for the deluxe version of the record.
