With an album title as enigmatic as this and including over 80 minutes of music, ATGCLVLSSCAP is Ulver's 12th studio album and it comes out today, January 22nd on House Of Mythology.
Recorded mostly at improvisational live shows and enhanced later in the studio, ATGCLVLSSCAP's conception goes back to 2014 and Ulver's then European Tour.
23 years after they were formed and after having experimented with many genres and styles, Ulver is now a totally different band than the black metal ensemble they started out as. ATGCLVLSSCAP is supposed to be an acronym that refers to the initial letter of each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac and as exploring and cosmic as that may sound, Ulver's intentions for this one sound even more adventurous, regarding the music itself. Constantly in a sci-fi ambiance and experimenting with post-rock, drone and psychedelia, ATGCLVLSSCAP is the genuine result of an innovative band that always keeps pushing forward, evolves and expands.
