Before Ron Hirsch added the lyrics about a spooky little girl he used to know, Classic IV's first single after their deal with Imperial and most notorious hit was scheduled to be released as an instrumental. Spooky became an instant hit in 1967 (#3 in the US) and a classic Halloween playlist entry and since then it's been recorded by countless artists, including Atlanta Rhythm Section (that featured Classics IV's James Cobb), Dusty Springfield, Andy Williams, Lydia Lunch and more.
